As one of the largest policy writers for Anthem Insurance in the Midwest, Schultheis Insurance wants to notify any affected individuals that a very sophisticated IT attack on Anthem’s systems has compromised insured parties’ personal information and data.
According to Anthem’s announcement, the compromised information may include “names, birthdays, medical IDs/social security numbers, street addresses, email addresses and employment information, including income data.” As far as is known at this time, neither credit card nor medical information has been compromised.
At Schultheis, we’re very concerned about the data breach. However, it is important to note that our information systems are completely separate from Anthem’s, and we are currently working with Anthem to uncover any affected customers along with steps to protect them.
Anthem has set up a website to allow those persons possibly affected by the breach to obtain more information: www.anthemfacts.com. Current or former members of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield are also encouraged to call (877) 263-7995 to speak directly to an Anthem customer service representative.
Schultheis Insurance will continue to closely monitor the extent of the data compromise, and keep our customers posted with information as it becomes available.
